Research Types, Level 2 Checklist.
Primary Research
Primary
research is when the individual collects data themselves, rather than analyzing
and utilizing the data that another individual has collected. Ultimately, the
individual that collects the data owns it. Examples of research: Interviews,
speeches, questionnaires, and surveys.
Secondary Research
Secondary research is a data collection method that
involves using already existing data. The existing data is summarized to
increase its effectiveness. Secondary data is much more efficient than primary
research data because it utilizes already
existing data, unlike primary research where data is collected first hand.
Quantitative Research
Quantitative
research, is defined as the systematic investigation of phenomena by gathering quantifiable
data and performing statistical, mathematical or computational techniques. Quantitative research gathers
information from existing and potential customers
Qualitative Research
Qualitative
research is a process of naturalistic inquiry that seeks in-depth understanding
of social phenomena within their natural setting. It focuses on the
"why" rather than the "what,” relying on the direct experiences
of human beings as meaning for their influence.
